Sean ‘Puff Daddy’ Combs, a famous music producer, has just stepped into a new problem: 120 accusers are planning to file a lawsuit against him for sexual assault. The Texas-based high-profile lawyer Tony Buzbee also announced legal actions on October 2, 2024. The accusations have been made over two decades highlighting legal problems surrounding Diddy yet again.
Buzbee who has handled more than 100 cases of similar accusations highlighted the details as rape and forced intercourse with drugs, forced sex with minors among others. As the attorney has pointed out, the accusations range back to 1993 and there are some pretty heinous acts of impropriety.
3,000 Accusers Have Come Forward Against Diddy
In his statement, Buzbee said more than 3,000 people who have come to his office and complained about Diddy, whose real name is Sean Combs. Out of the accusers, 25 different states of the USA are involved and the highest number of victims is from New York, California, Georgia, and Florida. Some allegations are based on the reports conduct with the minors, with some of the accusers telling they were just nine years of age the time they claim they were abused by Helms.
Allegations to be included in new cases to be filed will include claims of sexual misconduct that include rape, sharing of compromising video. To these allegations, the attorney urged that the cases must be pursued only after the legal team is ‘damn sure’ of the findings of the investigations.
The law firms representing the Hip Hop Mogul Diddy have dismissed the allegations.
In light of these growing accusations, Diddy has been setting the record straight through his lawyers – primarily Erica Wolff. Wolff said the allegations are “false and defamatory” and that Diddy is eager to clear the law by establishing his/her innocence. But as base as the accusations are, lawyers of Combs believe that their client will walk a free man.
Now, Sean Combs is held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, after he was charged last month with sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation for the purpose of prostitution. Despite a not-guilty plea to all counts, his bail has been refused twice. They also said his legal team is already seeking a reversal of the decision.
Legal Team Gets to Prepare for a War
As the case gets more attention, Combs’ defense has received legal service from several lawyers. His defense team now comprises high-profile lawyers including Alexandra Shapiro, Teny Geragos, and Marc Agnifilo with the expectation of a long trial. At the same end, Tony Buzbee is not relenting in filing lawsuits in different states and he intends to make the public known of the names of other defendants at a later date.
History of Legal Troubles
It is not the first time Diddy has found himself in sexual misconduct allegations either time or gender. His former girlfriend Casandra “Cassie” Ventura was in the news last year based on the allegations of Sexual assault and Trafficking during their relationship where she filed a civil suit against him. Though Combs reached a settlement with Ventura for an undisclosed sum more cases came later; One of them was by Dawn Richard, a member of the girl group Danity Kane who accused Combs of groping her and sexual assault.
Since then, Diddy has been involved in producing multiple lawsuits, most of which were done in New York under the Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Law of statute laws which allows claims to be made even after fulfilling the statute of limitations.
